THE APPROACH

I've been helping the local New York creative community understand practices that look at fashion systems holistically.  By helping Makayla Wray grow Pedalmaw, a sustainable sewing service for the people, I found myself immersed in problem-solving with collaboration to meet construction goals while instructing students on design critical thinking.

ABLOH INVITATIONAL x NIKE

Pedalmaw was hosted by NIKE @arch___itecture to attend 2023 Miami  2nd Annual Abloh Skateboarding Invitational workshops. Deadstock gear featured stations dedicated to airbrushing, garment printing, and our job; to sew reworked designs created by the skateboarding youth.

3D SKETCHING

A 10-minute online skillshare teaching a small class of five people; how to approach tangible design thinking. 

PEDALMAW x DEPOP COLLECTION

In preparation for Makayla's solo show, I helped to install, design, and sew based on her inspiration for repair techniques. This Depop feature also hosted an upcycling workshop for recycled materials and bring-your-own clothing repairs. 

ATMOS SUSTAINABILITY WORKSHOP

Partnering with ATMOS for the release of Air Jordan 11 Retro 'Cherry' sneakers brought Pedalmaw to host another sustainable workshop based in Harlem, NY to design 'shoe' bags from recycled Nike Jordan materials. 

SLOW FACTORY x NY LIVE ARTS

Pedalmaw was invited by Slow Factory at NY Live Arts for a deep dive into sustainable practices among local NY creatives. With each workshop, Makayla and I brainstorm activities catered to the public to structure the time allotted to consider the time it takes for students to adapt to the lessons from previous experiences.
